Why "Raíz"?

Raíz means "root" in Spanish. It reflects what we do: help organizations build strong digital foundations that support growth for years to come.

Just like roots anchor a tree and draw up nourishment, your digital presence should anchor your mission and help you reach the people who need you.

We're not trying to be the biggest agency. We're trying to be the most helpful partner for organizations doing good in the world.

The Story

Raíz Digital was founded with a simple observation: nonprofits and artists do incredible work, but they're often underserved by the tech industry.

Big agencies charge big prices. DIY tools leave you frustrated. And the rapid pace of AI development has left many organizations wondering how to keep up — or if they even should.

We believe technology should amplify your mission, not complicate it. That means building things that work, teaching you how to use them, and being there when you need help.

The name Raíz — Spanish for "root" — reflects both our approach and our connection to community. Roots provide a strong foundation for growth, just like we help organizations build digital foundations that last. Roots connect a tree to the earth around it, just like we stay connected to the communities we serve — including Portland's Latino, nonprofit and vibrant arts scene.

We're proud to offer bilingual consultations and to serve Spanish-speaking organizations. Technology shouldn't have a language barrier.

Meet the Founder

Richard Flores

Richard is a software engineer with a Computer Science degree from UC Davis and 24 years of experience at Intel. He knows technology deeply — and he knows how overwhelming it can feel for organizations that didn't grow up in it.

After leaving Intel, Richard asked himself a simple question: "What would you do if you had all the money in the world?" The answer came quickly. He wanted to help people with technology. But not just any people — the people who are helping people.

That idea became Raíz Digital: a consultancy built around the belief that nonprofits and artists deserve the same quality of technology support that large organizations take for granted.

Richard's connection to the nonprofit world runs deep. He has served on the board of Young Musicians and Artists, co-founded Mariachi STEAM Camp, and volunteers with Free Geek — a Portland nonprofit dedicated to making technology accessible to everyone.

He is bilingual in English and Spanish and is proud to serve Portland's Latino community and beyond. Somos bilingües.
